The Rogue Elephant restaurant, Basavanagudi, Bangalore

Much had been heard about The Rogue Elephant restaurant attached to Ambara in Ulsoor. Much delight happened when they opened up way closer home! It was a perfect Sunday lunch here today with the family. LOVE it when I don’t have to drive far, don’t have to worry about sitting in cloistered A/C or burning sun. This al fresco eatout has a the blessed shade of old trees and it’s a quiet setting in the middle of Basavanagudi.

seatingThe seating is only 5 tables, keeps it relaxed.

old fiurnitureLove the wrought iron legs on the tables.

Pita and hummusThe food is hearty too. We had pita and hummus, nimbu paani. Couscous and stew and a pasta pommodore. Sid had a veg kaati roll. All of them were good and you didn’t feel unhealthily stuffed at the end of the meal. They have a soup of the day which is very hearty too! Ahem, yes, I forgot to take pics of the rest of the food (sheepish grin :) ..)

Meal for two adults and two kids came up to Rs.2000. No alcohol. The menu has pastas, salads, sandwiches, rolls – both veg and non-veg. Drinks are limited to nimbu paani, iced tea, sodas, and hot beverages.

If you choose to eat here, there’s a bonus, ‘coz then you can browse the beautiful antiques, traditional weaves and Arnav jewellery at Ambara – which is located in the same compound. Also be enthralled by the gorgeous garden accessories at Hybiscus, which shares space with the restaurant.

The Rogue Elephant is located opposite Krishna Rao Park in Basavanagudi, on Kanakapura Road. This is not the Kanakapura Road as far as the Ring Road which we all identify with. Look up Google maps before you head here if you’re new to south Bangalore.

    Hey Anu
What a coincidence. I reviewed The Rogue Elephant Terrace Bistro today. If you loved Basavangudi (which I do too) then you will love this as well.
