Aaaand….a Strawberry(!!) chutney

Rani adds to the chutney fest and boy, is this unusual :)?! – Anu

I used this as a relish along with a beef steak and mashed potatoes, and it was YUMM!!

Strawberries – 5 big ones
Mint leaves – 2 small stems (5-6 leaves)
Green chilli – 2 small ones

Start by roughly pounding the strawberries in a mortar. Remove from the mortar, and add the chillies, pounding it till the chillies are crushed (not ground). Now add the mint, and mull it. Add back the strawberries, and mix everything up.
Add a dash of extra virgin olive oil, if you’d like, or leave as is.

This made for a rather hot, but such a refreshing! relish, and complemented the beef rather well. Roughly pounding the strawberries ensures you have enough bite left in them, retaining their fresh flavor.

I can’t wait to try this one! But am wondering what vegetarian food it can accompany well? Of course, I could just eat it as is :)

loved it…a perfect base for a sandwich and of course a neat dressing for a yummy salad (pref (mixed) sprouts and carrots)

How cool can’t imagine strawberries in chutney, a pic with the recipe would give us an idea though :)
