Snack in a box: 2 chapatis in 10 bites

Sid loves chapatis, but cribs about it taking long to eat (actually anything with him takes long to eat ;-)…). So I tried to make it easier for him to eat 2 chapatis at school. By toothpicking them, you can polish off 2 in 10 bites.

Make your chapatis (flat breads) the way you normally make them.

Make a potato filling (or any other vegetable for that matter) in which the potatoes are cut into big chunks. I just boil them and season with salt, turmeric and chilli powder. If your kids like other veggies, cut them as well into big chunks and saute / boil and season. I made this last night, so making the chapatis and then assembling is all you need to do in the morning.

Place the chapati on a plate and place 5 pieces of the vegetable along one edge.

Hold firmly and roll. Pierce 5 toothpicks through the chapati and vegetable. Pierce the toothpicks at each vegetable interval.

Use a serrated knife to cut along the line where each veggie ends. This way you get as many mini rolls as vegetable pieces.

Place them in the lunch box picking ends up so the kiddos can easily pick and eat. You’re done!

    Hey Anu… this is a great lunch idea. Try the same with Eggs…scrambled or an Omelette. Cut one half of an omelette and use for one chapati. Healthy and tasty!!!

    Aiyisha, true an omelette would work well too! Sid hasn’t tried egg with chapatis, maybe I should give it a try :)
